Major duties
You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the Electrical, Mechanical and Structural Tech Support Management Division (N42), Facilities Department (N4) at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic. You will assist in the local activity’s personnel with trouble shooting and repairing inoperable equipment and systems. You will provide worldwide standardization of required operation and maintenance for HVAC equipment and systems through review of manuals, local procedures and instructions. You will advise the Commanding Officer or designated representative of problems while on board an activity which may lead to future loss of system reliability and propose corrective actions. You will monitor the maintenance of facility history on each installed system. You will monitor the logistic support of mechanical and electronic systems by monitoring allowance parts lists and corresponding technical material and parts inventories. You will act as a field technical representative and consultant in solving general mechanical/electronic and control problems relative to HVAC systems.
What you need to qualify
Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: -Experience working with diverse and complex equipment and systems such as chillers, air handling units, air compressors, steam and hot water systems. -Experience planning, preparing course materials and conducting classroom and on the job training for field activity military and civilian personnel in the proper operation, maintenance and repair of systems or sub-systems. -Experience evaluating and reviewing the adequacy of mechanical systems, inspections and preventative maintenance programs (such as staffing, maintenance facilities, tools and test equipment, equipment inventories). -Experience managing comprehensive record systems, including maintenance/repair logs, inspection reports, and training records. -Experience inspecting, analyzing and providing corrective recommendations for the operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC and electrical systems. This position is within the Work Category PROFESSIONAL at Work Level FULL PERFORMANCE, Series and Grade GG-1670-12.
