About the Position: This position is located at 375th Medical Group at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Major duties
Receive individual prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals, to include controlled drugs, to determine kind, strength, and dosage of drugs to be dispensed. Interpret prescription orders for appropriateness and conformity with established standards. Clarify issues or problems concerning dosing, interactions, allergies, or instructions with the provider, pharmacist, or supervisor. Provide information and consultant advice to the prescriber on contraindications, interactions, and side effects. Answer routine inquiries from doctors, nurses, and other medical staff on the availability of specific items, e.g., drugs in stock, new drugs on order, and dosage forms available in the pharmacy. Process prescriptions by data entry and verify prescription orders. Conduct interviews with patients or their caregivers for the purpose of establishing medication history. Set up prescriptions by obtaining correct stock container and calculating quantities.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining a pharmaceutical inventory, filling and dispensing prescriptions, and utilizing automated pharmacy systems to enter and/or retrieve data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
