This vacancy is for a GS-0189-7, Youth Services Administrator located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, TRACEN PETALUMA CG MORALE WELFARE AND RECREATION BRANCH in PETALUMA, California.
Major duties
You will serve as a Youth Services Administrator and be responsible for overseeing the Boys & Girls Club at Training Center Petaluma to include program development and execution, staff management and training, records management, community special events, and/or other youth programming and recreational services. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Planning, coordinating, scheduling and publicizing recurring and nonrecurring activities, such as seasonal youth camps, youth sports, special events, and joint community activities. Making suggestions or recommending program changes to add additional types of events, determining costs and impact on other services, and providing an analysis of the reason for the recommendations. Soliciting, developing, coordinating and implementing programs designed to meet the needs and interests of dependent youths and other groups who have special interests( e.g. youth sports programming). Developing and managing an active volunteer program. Preparing program data and drafting budget for annual operations based on usage of facilities, and operating costs. What you need to qualify
To qualify at the GS-7 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Designing, setting up, and leading recreational programs for youths, such as crafts, games, sports, or special events to promote social, physical, and emotional well-being. Engaging with participants and communicating rules effectively; Collaborating with families and community organizations to support youths. Organizing indoor and outdoor events and logistics to include managing schedules, insuring equipment is in operating order and safety regulations are followed. Monitoring youth programs to determine effectiveness and recommending modification of services to better meet participate needs. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
