Engineering Equipment Operator
What you'd do
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range & Test Facilities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Operates various gasoline or diesel powered construction and maintenance equipment, and performs routine operating maintenance on equipment.
Major duties
Operate various gasoline or diesel powered equipment. Recover magazines on steep grades. Perform routine operating maintenance on equipment. Inspect equipment for signs of wear or damage. Make proper towing attachments and couples power take-off devices.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision. Must posses the ability to perform common Engineering Equipment Operator duties such as operating gasoline or diesel-powered construction and maintenance equipment. I can perform routine maintenance on equipment and inspect equipment for signs of wear or damage. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Efforts: The physical demands of the worker are high since he is required to operate several different types of equipment and also various types of hand tools doing hand labor. Good hand, foot and eye coordination, depth perception and concentration are required. When possible and practical, mechanical hoists, dollies, hand trucks, etc., are used and fellow workers assist when needed. At no time is the pace or weight lifts to exceed safety, regulations. Worker is required to keep his eyes and ears open at all times and be able to distinguish color. A physical examination is required each year for operators. Working Conditions: The worker when operating equipment is exposed to moving machinery practically all the time. He may receive from very minor to fatal injuries if he disregards rules and regulations governing the operation and performance of his or other equipment or tools.
