Major duties
Perform as a multi-discipline Security Specialist administering intelligence-related personnel, information, and industrial security. Support the Special Security Officer in the administration, enforcement and oversight of the JIATFS Sensitive Compartmented Information and collateral security programs. Maintain all Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) accreditations from conception through final accreditation. Develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures, control systems and methods to prevent the compromise or loss of classified information or material. Administer programs for the continuous security evaluation of personnel and process security clearance requests for investigations requiring Tier 3 or Tier 5 clearance. Advise officials on the requirements of the industrial security program and prepare security documentation to identify the level and extent of security protection required for the programs, systems, or information involved. Develop local implementing security guidance and explain security procedures and requirements to management officials and employees. Independently review and recommend action for a variety of security problems, questions and situations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) accreditation and/or access process as well as experience performing a full range of intelligence-related personnel, information, and/or industrial security administrative tasks such as: working with an information security process to prevent the compromise or loss of classified information or material; assisting with the administration of programs for security evaluation of personnel; and advising on requirements of an industrial security program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS/GG-11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
