This vacancy is for a GS-2101-12, Bridge Management Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OPERATING LOCATION-D8 BRIDGE ADMIN BR -DPB -ST LOUIS MO in SAINT LOUIS, Missouri.
Major duties
You will serve as a Bridge Management Specialist and be responsible for monitoring project priorities and program goals; meets work deadlines established by the District Bridge Manager; and provides guidance to the District Bridge Office personnel, other District staff, field units and federal, state, and local agencies in the policies, procedures and proper interpretation of the bridge program requirements and jurisdiction. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Reviews the documentation of permit applications submitted by bridge owners for the construction, replacement and modification of bridges to ensure compliance with regulations Makes recommendations to the Draw Bridge Manager regarding processing requests for changes in drawbridge operation regulations Coordinates Coast Guard compliance with federal environmental control laws applicable to the Bridge Program as either Lead Federal Agency or Cooperating Agency as defined by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Conducts investigations of reported violations of bridge laws and regulations, obtaining data and filing reports as well as maintaining historical records Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application. What you need to qualify
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Reviewing applications for completeness utilizing appropriate statues, regulations, policy guidance, and analytical and problem-solving abilities Firm understanding of environmental laws and regulations and the administrative requirements that form the basis for an environmental review of a proposed bridge and a recommended course of action Drafting reports or speaking to the public regarding regulations pertaining to bridge law, developments and proposals Application of requirements of the bridge administration program, having a major impact on environmental considerations within the affected geographic area NOTE: All experience statements (i.e., duties, specialized experience, or related applicable assessment) copied from this announcement and pasted into your resume will not be considered as a demonstration of your qualifications for this position.
