Major duties
Serves as a DLA Troop Support Planner in support of Executive Agency execution or supply classes I, II, IV, and VIII, within the Operational Plans Support Branch, Future Operations Division (J3/5). Coordinates with and advises supported Combatant Commands, Major Commands, and other DoD component and agencies. Provides authoritative advice and technical guidance to direct the design, development, execution and promulgation of operational and contingency plans for worldwide support in the assigned Theater of Operation. Evaluates theater/contingency operational plans and assesses DLA Troop Support's supporting tasks and missions through day-to-day analysis and periodic testing during JCS and Combatant Command sponsored exercises. Resolves operation plan shortfalls, limitations and other conditions that impact on DLA's ability to perform its wartime logistics support mission. Continually monitors Agency planning initiatives and new initiatives in order to provide information for use by Combatant Command, DLA senior managers, support staff, and the Military Services. Determines the need for special reports to keep superiors current on all major doctrinal developments within the Combatant Commander's theater of operation. Advises senior DLA officials of any Combatant Command support issues that impact on the Agency.
What you need to qualify
To qualify for a Troop Support Planner, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Applying analytical and evaluative methods/techniques for the assessment of logistics support plans and exercise scenarios. Developing draft and finalized planning documentation supporting the DoD and military joint planning community. Conducting detailed analyses of wartime and emergency logistics requirements/policies/doctrines utilizing a variety of methods and techniques. Formulating feasibility and sustainability assessments to identify problems, recommend solutions, and direct complex studies. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
