Major duties
Designs, engineers, configures, tests, deploys, and sustains enterprise cloud platform environments in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that support mission systems, data platforms... ..., artificial intelligence solutions, analytics workloads, APIs, and business applications Performs the technical work required to create and maintain foundational cloud environments used by multiple teams and organizational components, including organization hierarchy design... ..., folder and project structures, shared platform services, baseline configurations, and approved deployment patterns. Builds and maintains GCP landing zones and shared platform services used to support secure onboarding of workloads into cloud environments. Builds and maintains reusable platform templates, infrastructure modules, deployment standards, and baseline configurations used across multiple efforts. Produces and maintains engineering artifacts required to support enterprise cloud platform operation, including architecture diagrams, reference architectures, platform blueprints, environment configurations... ... infrastructure-as-code modules, deployment instructions, interface descriptions, configuration baselines, dependency records, operational standards, and sustainment documentation. Performs validation and testing of platform builds and environment changes to ensure they function correctly and support intended workloads.
What you need to qualify
To qualify for an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN), your resume and supporting documentation must include: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: - Develops and applies infrastructure patterns for development, test, staging, and production environments so that workloads can be deployed into repeatable, governable, and supportable cloud environments. - Designs and configures cloud compute, storage, networking, and supporting platform services used by hosted applications, APIs, data solutions, and AI/ML workloads - Diagnoses and resolves platform engineering issues such as misconfigured projects, policy conflicts, permission errors, networking failures, provisioning failures, service enablement problems, broken inherited controls, routing conflicts, DNS failures, environment drift, performance bottlenecks, storage access failures, or service integration issues that affect hosted workloads or shared cloud services. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
