VISUAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST (DIGITAL PUBLISHING)

About the Position: This position supports the mission by providing health communication products and services in the areas of public health and preventive medicine and the position is located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Advanced In-Hire may be authorized if new to Federal Service.
Major duties
Serve as a project officer on digital publishing projects, managing production schedules under the pressure of short suspense deadlines. Manage projects to execute work to design and modify digital publishing files for diverse media. Conduct pre-production meetings with program managers, editors, and senior leaders to guide them on the most appropriate approach based on target audience. Discuss budget constraints, material requirements, production schedules, and designs to develop accurate cost estimates. Research new visual information technologies to enhance production quality. Implement design workflow solutions both within the division and in coordination with external client offices. Utilize technological knowledge of large-format and office printing systems to produce products. Resolve technical difficulties within printing systems for efficiency.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) managing visual communication projects across diverse media platforms to meet specific organizational objectives; 2.) advising organizational stakeholders on optimal media formats regarding cost efficiency or target audience impact; 3.) implementing design workflow solutions utilizing emerging technologies for improved production efficiency; AND 4.) troubleshooting technical issues within large format printing systems to ensure seamless product delivery.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
