Supervisory Safety and Occupational Health Manager
What you'd do
The Safety & Occupational Health Manager serves as the designated Safety Officer for the Martinsburg VA Medical Center (MWV VAMC), a complexity level 1 C tertiary care facility. This position contributes to the VA's mission by ensuring a safe environment of care, supporting uninterrupted delivery of health services to Veterans, and protecting the medical centers' reputation and resources.
Major duties
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Manages the Safety and Occupational Health Program for the medical center. Ensures compliance with occupational safety and health laws, regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements. Conducts or oversees inspections, hazard assessments, accident investigations, and corrective actions. Develops and implements safety policies, procedures, and training. Advises management on occupational safety and health matters. Supervises safety and occupational health staff. Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not Approved
What you need to qualify
To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level, you must meet one of the following requirement. Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes managing a safety and occupational health program; applying occupational safety and health laws, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance; conducting inspections, hazard assessments, and accident investigations; developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, or training; and advising management on safety and occupational health issues.
