MOTOR VEHICLE DISPATCHER
What you'd do
The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine, recurring vehicle dispatch and record keeping duties between base activities and Vehicle Operations. Receive, process, plan, schedule, and assign personnel and vehicles to approved vehicle requests. Major duties
Receives requests for motor vehicle transportation and/or taxi service from customers. Coordinates with customers for projections of recurring transportation requirements. Prepares and inputs transactions/files into appropriate systems, such as the OLVIMS MODULE and, when necessary, the CE trouble call/work order system. Inputs data to ensure accurate visibility of capabilities and support limitations. Uses varied and advanced functions of word processing software to create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other textual documents.
What you need to qualify
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, series 2151. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of automated systems to input a range of standard information or adjustments, understand recurring error reports and take corrective action, and generate a variety of standard reports. Knowledge of the nature and capability of word processing software procedures and function keys to perform a substantial range of functions, such as generating tables of contents, importing graphs or databases, creating glossaries, aligning multiple columns, automatically printing document identification or other notations at the top or bottom of each page, and creating form letters and automatically merging these with mailing lists. Knowledge of standard office equipment, such as electric/electronic typewriters, copiers, fax machines, and office automation systems, to perform a substantial range of office automation support. Knowledge of the organization and geographic area of Offutt AFB and the geographic area(s) adjacent to the base. Practical Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local transportation safety policies, regulations, and laws, and of applicable labor/management memoranda of understanding. Basic knowledge of the characteristics and capacity of a variety of transportation equipment, and knowledge of standard dispatching rules, processes, and procedures. OR EDUCATION: I have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have a combination of experience as described in the job opportunity announcement and education. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-04 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-05 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents, such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters. Familiar with the use of a keyboard to input, access, or locate information through a personal computer or terminal. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of the organization and geographic area of Offutt AFB and the geographic area(s) adjacent to the base. Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local transportation safety policies, regulations, and laws, and of applicable labor/management memoranda of understanding. Knowledge of the characteristics and capacity of a variety of transportation equipment, and an ability to apply standard dispatching rules, processes, and procedures. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
