POSTAL OPERATIONS SPECIALIST(WEST)
What you'd do
About the Position: Incumbent works under the general direction of the Commander (O-5) and Senior Manager (GS-14), Joint Military Postal Activity (JMPA), located in Chicago, IL. Incumbent serves as the JMPA-West Region Transportation and Operations subject matter expert with full responsibility for nine programs.
Major duties
Develop or update operational plans and procedures for both standard and emergency scenarios. Inspect postal operations to ensure compliance with all established standards. Monitor contractor performance and manage transportation contracts. Supervise a diverse team of military and civilian staff, overseeing daily work, schedules, and assignments. Execute a full range of personnel management functions, including performance evaluations, mentorship, interviewing, and hiring.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing policy and/or procedures for contingency operations; advising senior leaders, internal departments, and/or external partners on operational management; auditing programs to ensure compliance with established standards; and managing large-scale regional programs by analyzing delivery performance and/or overseeing new and existing contracts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
