Program Analyst (Informatics)
What you'd do
The Technology, Innovation, and Development service is a Program Analyst (Informatics) to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care by integrating clinical and information processes necessary to achieve successful adoption and application of new technologies throughout the VHA. Major duties
Coordinates computer programs and programming EHR programs for staff use. Deploys solutions and performs assessments to ensure the informatics products and services are meeting stakeholder needs. Leads decision making among informatics functions to optimize the healthcare system and the tools that support the business. Provides clinical workflows, partnering on the planning and deployment of medical devices in clinical areas. Troubleshooting issues and preparing instructions to ensure patient care technology is effectively and efficiently integrated into the clinical workflow. Applies statistical, machine learning, visualization, inferencing, and other techniques to enable decision support. Utilizes or develops reports and information tools using methods and tools such as Structured Querly Lange (SQL) and SQL Server Reporting Servies (SSRS) from the VISN and VA corporate data warehouse. Enhances EHR usability, interoperability, and ability to interface with other information-based systems. Adapts clinical software and emerging technologies to optimize delivery of care. Provides communication channels to clinical and business teams to support deployment, sustainment, and optimization efforts. Establishes effective clinical and administrative systems. What you need to qualify
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations GS-12 Program Analyst (Informatics): Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS 11) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Program Analyst - Informatics. Qualifying specialized experience includes, but is not limited to; using clinical software packages; providing professional health informatics consulting services to develop and deliver health informatics education and training programs; proposing and supporting major administrative and clinical policies and directives; troubleshooting functionality issues and developing solutions with automation and software systems; completing data design collection and management to input, retrieve, analyze, summarize, and present information effectively; leading management information projects; making presentations and preparing policies, procedures, memoranda, and training materials; examining highly complex systems and problems and taking action to resolve them; leading multidisciplinary teams; performing detailed analysis of technical information in critical areas. Preferred Experience: Experience in Sequel, Microsoft Power Platform Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), Multidimensional Expressions (MDX), and Power Query Leaf. Physical Requirements: The work is usually sedentary, but it requires periods of walking, standing, bending, or climbing, and employees may carry light items such as books, instruments, laptops, and other similar materials. The work is conducted in office, conference room and clinical/hospital patient care settings. Typically, the work is hazard-free, not requiring any special clothing or equipment.
