SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
What you'd do
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the T&E Management for Programs & Ops Department, NTWL Resources & Operations Division, and Resources & Operations Branch of NAVTESTWINGLANT NWCF. The duty location of this position is Patuxent River, MD.
Major duties
You will be the assigned section Supervisor for the NTWL Resources and Operations Division technical workforce. You will serve as an expert in all Resources and Operations data acquisition instrumentation systems and subsystems and assist senior technicians in support of their programs with specific knowledge of VX-23 platform integration. You will serve as an expert in TEMPO (Test and Evaluation Management for Programs and Ops) data acquisition equipment, design and software, and how it integrates specifically with VX-23 test squadron platforms: F/A-18B/C/D/E/F, EA-18G and T-45C. You will provide technically sound advice and guidance to managers, engineers, technicians, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of data acquisition systems concept, development and support. You will serve as an expert in the R/O Division specific practices and procedures such as Technical Standard Operating Procedures, Administrative Standard Operating Procedures, Naval Air Maintenance Program (NAMP), SOW and Estimating forms. You will serve as an expert in squadron specific practices and procedures such as Aircraft Modification Requests, Flight Clearance Requests, Flight Preparation Sheets, COMSEC, ordinance, safety and maintenance procedures.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Guiding the full life-cycle of complex technical systems (e.g., instrumentation or data acquisition systems) from conceptual design through integration and maintenance and working alongside technical teams to ensure execution aligns seamlessly with strategic mission priorities; 2) Fostering a collaborative environment, providing real-time coaching, and working directly with personnel to identify tailored training pathways that build a highly capable, resilient workforce; 3) Driving project planning and execution through active engagement rather than passive oversight; 4) Partnering directly with teams, monitoring contractor performance, and orchestrating cross-functional resources to proactively solve complex technical and budgetary challenges on the ground; 5) Serving as a trusted advisor and engaged liaison to internal and external stakeholders (e.g., customers, contractors, and executive leadership); and 6) Championing transparent communication, actively managing programmatic expectations, and providing expert technical counsel to co-create solutions and guide critical operational decisions.
