Major duties
The United States Attorney for the District of Utah is responsible for prosecuting all federal crimes committed within the district. The Office also defends the United States, its agencies, officers, and employees in civil actions; enforces the regulatory authority of federal agencies, and recovers funds from individuals who violate criminal, civil and regulatory laws. The Office is divided into four divisions: the Administrative Division, Appellate Division, Civil Division and Criminal Division. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for various support services within the Administrative Division. Typical work assignments will include: Entering obligations, amendments, delivery and all actions into the official financial system. Maintaining and administering a variety of budget and financial management activities Monitoring and tracking obligations and expenditures for the district. Developing procurement plans by reviewing previous history and market conditions. Coordinate and perform support services processes related to IT, records and inventory management. Coordinating a variety of facility maintenance and/or repair activities for workspaces. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
What you need to qualify
Applicants must possess and demonstrate in their application packages that they meet the following minimum qualifications: To be qualified as the GS-09 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as duties maintaining and administering a variety of routine budget, finance, contracting, and procurement management activities; making purchases of supplies, equipment, and services using agency/office credit cards, contract services, and other payment methods; providing administrative support services in areas such as space management, mail, records, forms management and communication services, office automation, information management and communications hardware and software; coordinating facility maintenance and/or repair activities for workspaces. OR Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Business, Finance, Public Administration, etc.); a master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education as described above which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. To calculate your percentage of graduate education, first determine the total number of graduate hours that exceed 18 semester hours (or your school definition of one year of graduate study), then divide the total number of your excess graduate semester hours by 18 (or your school definition of one year of graduate study). To calculate your percentage of qualifying experience, divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by 12. Now, add the two percentages together. The sum of the percentages must equal at least 100%. (Only graduate education in excess of the first full year may be used in this calculation.) To be qualified as the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as duties formulating, justifying, and monitoring the execution of an office's budget and its various contracts; reviewing requisitions and determining appropriate method to procure a variety of standard products and services; identifying cost-benefit relationships between budget and program goals; analyzing financial requirements, space requirements, and other support service's needs; and analyzing and making recommendations to support service functions in areas such as space management, purchasing supplies and equipment, security, internal controls, mail, records, reproduction services, forms management, office automation, information management, and communications hardware and software. OR Education: One of the following types of education in a related field: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Finance, Public Administration, etc.); OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education as described above which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. To calculate your percentage of graduate education, first determine the total number of graduate hours that exceed 36 semester hours (or your school's definition of two years of graduate study), then divide the total number of excess semester hours by 18 (or your school's definition of one year of graduate study). To calculate your percentage of qualifying experience, divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by 12. Now, add the two percentages together. The sum of the percentages must equal at least 100%. (Only graduate education in excess of the first two years may be used in this calculation.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria. You must provide proof of eligibility to receive selection priority.
