ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST
What you'd do
You will serve as a Environmental Protection Specialist in the Navy Installation Command of PACIFIC MISSILE RANGE FACILITY.
Major duties
You will work on environmental protection projects of complex scope involving analysis, development, implementation and management of environmental programs. You will represent the command or participate in meetings with external groups such as, community groups, Federal, State and local regulatory agencies and other concerned groups related to environmental programs. You will provide technical assistance for control, clean up, and resolution. You will implement corrective action in compliance with regulations. You will develop and provide a variety of reports such as, annual and biennial reports for regulatory agencies; facility operating reports; and/or annual compliance certifications. You will be responsible for coordinating and balancing a myriad of environmental efforts to ensure compliance and timely execution of customer needs. You will manage installation aspects of environmental plans and permits, by ensuring compliance with permits issued by local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies. You will maintain knowledge/oversight of compliance status including inspection discrepancies, status of corrective actions, and permit compliance data.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying skills in the analysis, development, implementation, and management of complex environmental protection projects and programs for installations within the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Proven ability to improve and modify existing environmental systems. Experience applying extensive knowledge of environmental protection principles to solve complex problems by modifying established methods and revising standard procedures to improve environmental management processes and systems. Experience utilizing comprehensive knowledge of the environmental protection laws, regulations, licensing/permit requirements, and precedent decisions that govern environmental operations. Experience acknowledging federal, state, and other entities' policies, operations, and environmental parameters to interpret requirements, provide advisory information, evaluate compliance, and recommend changes and control measures.
