SUPERVISORY CIVIL ENGINEER
What you'd do
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY CIVIL ENGINEER in the PLANNING, DESIGN, AND CONSTRUCTION DIRECTORATE of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Major duties
You will prepare and/or direct the preparation of working drawings and specifications, and review of construction drawings and specifications. You will assign work to subordinates based on priorities, considering the difficulty and requirements of the assignments. You will review designs, plans, specifications, and design analysis prepared by others. You will resolve complaints from individual employees, resolve group grievances, investigate serious complaints and involve HRO as necessary to ensure timely and effective conflict resolution.
What you need to qualify
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Your license or registration must be held in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical expertise, and regional interface for design, design review, construction, and rehabilitation of a diverse range of projects within the Civil Engineering Program; 2) Supervising a technical staff comprised of civilians, and mentoring employees in specific tasks, job techniques and processes; 3) Monitoring civil engineering and technical performance and provides input into training plans; 4) Coordinating the civil engineering design with other organizational elements and technical disciplines to ensure integration of architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection building systems; 5) Serving on an independent technical review teams, and quality assurance (QA) teams; 6) Providing technical direction consistent with Navy policy to Field Engineering Commands and Architect-Engineer firms (AE).
