SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
What you'd do
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Material Planning Branch (224), Process Controls Division (220) Engineering and Planning Department (200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Major duties
You will be responsible for the timely identification, ordering and successful acquisition of the shop work related materials/services in support of non-nuclear industrial effort. You will determine goals and develop plans to perform required functions. You will identify causes, take action to reduce dollar value of material ordered in excess. You will be responsible for the planning and coordination of complex acquisition plans for multiple ship work projects. You will perform lesion functions within and outside the shipyard, contacting shipyard personnel at all levels of responsibility. You will assign work to subordinate personnel, ensuring timely completion and quality of work.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying engineering concepts, principles, methods, precedents, and techniques to evaluate and apply the latest developments and techniques in solving problems, identify, evaluate and recommend solutions for resolution of high visibility and complex process documentation and process improvement opportunities. Experience in managing the procurement of shop materials and services for non-nuclear industrial ship repairs. Experience in the planning and coordination of complex acquisition plans for multiple ship work projects in varying stages. Experience in performing high-level liaison functions across the shipyard to resolve differences and build strong departmental relationships. Experience using written and verbal communication skills in a administrative supervisory functions, such as making plans, assigning work, setting objectives, and policy and procedure development.
