About the Position: This position is located in the St. Paul District of the Army Corps of Engineers. It serves as the primary secretarial and administrative support for the Operations Division.

Major duties

In this position, the incumbent provides administrative and clerical support for the Operations Division in the areas of financial management, travel, VISA account records and personnel actions subject to different sets of rules and regulations. Serves as the primary project site employee responsible for providing technical guidance to all staff within the Project to ensure application of administrative guidelines are properly implemented. The following tasks are representative of work performed by this position at the Operation Division: Performs general office management activities. Serves as the primary project site employee responsible for the review and application of administrative guidelines necessary for project operations. Serves as GPC cardholder for the Branch which entails managing records for procurement requests such as developing and updating a purchase log, receiving and receipt documentation, and CEFMS actions for all card purchase. Oversees the performance appraisal and incentive awards programs for the Project. Assures that all awards are within allocated budget. Prepares personnel action requests and other documents as requested by the Supervisor Prepares regular and recurring travel orders for Project and field site staff. Reviews travel vouchers submitted by project staff to determine conformance with regulations and assists with Field Sites as necessary

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience Requirements: GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting TWO OF THE FOUR following: 1) Operate a financial management system for tracking time and attendance; 2) assist with travel orders; 3) prepare and edit complex documents and/or reports; and 4) utilize automated software, such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Power Point to prepare correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a selective placement factor as a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
