About the position: This position is Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) and will be assigned to the NAF Information Technology Facility, Fort Dix, New Jersey.

Major duties

Serves as assistant to the Director of Network Operations. Performs setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of both networked and non-networked servers, PC systems, print devices, Point of Sale systems, and other associated hardware and software. Conducts risk analysis for all computer systems. Assists in the evaluation of hardware and software products for use by unit staff, and provides appropriate input to Director or his/her designee. Provides user-level Local Area Network (LAN) support for unit staff, acting as initial contact for a variety of computer-related problems/issues at the unit level. Assists in the management of network access accounts as required, to include Remote Access and Exchange (Electronic Mail) accounts. Installs, configures, and manages applications software packages, to include multiple operating systems, Microsoft Office products, and a wide array of functional area software. Provides research and input to Director or his/her designee on installation, modification, and removal of computer-related resources. Organizes and presents written reports as needed. Assists training personnel with computer-related training for unit staff and associate as directed. Conducts on-the-job training. Performs administrative management of servers and associated network access equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Determines work requirement and objectives with significant management assistance. Always coordinates and keeps supervisor appropriately informed of job related issues. No more 20% of projects/tasks assigned can miss target dates. Project/task target dates missed must be immediately reported to supervisor and appropriated functional area staff. Projects not meeting required timeline for action or completion must be rescheduled to reasonable completion dates. Complies with pertinent directives. Must support the theme of loyalty and team player with co-workers and supervisors to ensure a professional workplace. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Incumbent must have skills necessary to serve as a project administrator, under the direct supervision of the Director of Network Operations, or his/her designee. Incumbent will be required to work independently on a variety of projects. Must have the ability to deal professionally and tactfully with personnel at all levels to include Air Force Services Agency, HQ AMC, base level organizations and vendors. Must have entry-level experience in computer-related operations, theories of network operation, applications software, network operating systems, and functional knowledge of office automation systems. Individual must have the ability to communicate IT related processes clearly and effectively using both oral and written communication techniques. Must be able to comprehend basic theories of system design and structures, and network device relationships. Must possess a valid driver's license. Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position. May be subject to an uncommon tour of duty.
