Security Specialist
What you'd do
Become part of the team that safeguards the financial system from the abuses of financial crime. At the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), we are at the forefront in preventing and detecting terrorist financing, money laundering, and other financial crime. Serve at the nation's financial intelligence unit and protect the United States financial system from criminals and terrorist financiers.
Major duties
This position is located in our Office of Security. As a Security Specialist, you will: Review, evaluate, and adjudicate cases in accordance with Federal personnel security practices, investigative standards, policies, regulations, and requirements for a full and complete background investigation; Consult with operating personnel and other internal and external security specialists to devise protection systems of the highest degree of security. Take action to prevent, correct, and control physical security violations; Be responsible for information that requires protection, and recommending the level of security classification and other protections required. Review requests from foreign governments, other federal agencies, and non-federal individuals or groups for classified or controlled unclassified information; Implement comprehensive and creditable Counterintelligence tasks for FinCEN staff and FinCEN sponsored staff. What you need to qualify
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé. For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: - Developing, coordinating and implementing plans, policies, and procedures necessary to safeguard classified and sensitive information, intelligence, intelligence sources, methods, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and assets (including personnel, information, documents, and other resources).
