What you'd do

This position is in the Office of the Administrator (AO), Office of Congressional Intergovernmental Relations (OCIR), Intergovernmental Relations Division. About this organization: AO This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

Major duties

You will: Provide leadership, direction, and guidance for the Division to enhance intergovernmental engagement and meet the Agency's cooperative federalism objectives. Provide expert advice to EPA and OCIR senior political and career leadership on intergovernmental relations and associated emerging issues to support decision-making, and strategic and effective engagement. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities of the Division to foster an environment that empowers employees and meets mission objectives while ensuring accountability. Represent the Agency to a variety of intergovernmental stakeholders to understand their issues and concerns and to impart the Agency's environmental goals and objectives. Review and evaluate the Division's organizational effectiveness and impact on Agency priorities through metrics, grants monitoring, and other applicable methods. One or more positions may be filled (in the organization advertised and/or in other organizations), if appropriate to the position.

What you need to qualify

NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level defined as providing leadership and oversight of engagement with elected officials; leading a team or staff to achieve established objectives; and leading program evaluation and policy implementation in compliance with statutory and administrative requirements. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
