What you'd do
This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Aviation Integration and Resources. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and monitor daily DHS aviation operations to ensure safe, efficient, and effective aviation operations through regulatory compliance, scheduling, and resource management. Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Major duties
As an Operations Specialist, GS-0343-13/14, your typical work assignments may include the following: Coordinating and monitoring daily aviation operations for assigned aircraft and mission sets in support of DHS components. Tracking aircraft status, maintenance, and readiness. Developing and maintaining operational schedules for assigned aircraft and missions. Coordinating with federal, military, and interagency partners to plan and support aviation operations, including joint or shared missions and the use of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) aviation resources. What you need to qualify
Specialized Experience for GS-13 You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: Compiling data used in aviation operational reports and mission summaries. Assisting with reviewing aircraft mission requirements such as tracking aircraft status, maintenance schedules and/or operational availability and; Entering aircraft data in applicable systems and operational logs. Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. Specialized Experience for GS-14 You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-123grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: Assisting with monitoring aviation operations to include mission requirements, aircraft status and/or aircraft availability schedules. Tracking aircraft maintenance schedules using established systems and processes. Maintaining aircraft flight schedules and/or mission manifests using operational tracking tools and; Preparing operational reports, mission summaries and/or aviation activity metrics for review. Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement. Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary. If you are applying for a higher grade, please provide the SF-50 Form which shows the length of time you have been in your current/highest grade (examples of appropriate SF-50s include promotions, With-in Grade/Range Increases, and SF-50s dated a year apart within the same grade/job). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
