The primary purpose of this position is to administer the Inspector General's Wing Inspection Team (WIT) program. Under leadership from the Director of Inspections, prepares and administers the inspection team program for Wing/Center (or equivalent).

Major duties

Directs multifaceted WIT pre-inspection activities. Responsible for planning, implementation, oversight, and centralized control of a coordinated inspection tam program. Organizes, trains, and oversees the inspection team in the execution of inspection activities. Develops a wide range of strategies, guidelines, and procedures to conduct comprehensive, conventional, and non-conventional inspection programs comprised of substantial variety and scope. Formulates the annual inspection schedule for WIT members. Represents the IG inspection function in a variety of meetings, work groups, and other situations, including emergency management personnel in surrounding communities.

What you need to qualify

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to participate in the assessment and development of multifaceted plans and programs for conducting evaluations, analyses, audits, quality and assurance management systems, process improvement, data management, interviews and surveys, and related education and awareness programs; ability to identify evaluators/inspectors, provide them training, evaluate their performance, and track all related events. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Extensive knowledge of DoD, Joint, and AF inspection and compliance policies, instructions, and practices involved in the AF inspection program; AF structure, mission, and programs; and instructions governing the organization's operations and plans programs. 2. Knowledge of AF programs, structure, mission requirements, vulnerabilities, operational and security policies, and the work processes/operations of assigned organizations. 3. Knowledge of analytical and evaluative techniques related to the identification, consideration, and resolution of difficult issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness of program operations. 4. Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing facts, drawing conclusions, devising solutions to problems, and identifying changes and trends. 5. Skill in conducting interviews with supervisors, functional experts, and employees to obtain information about organizational missions, functions, interrelationships, and work procedures. 6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, negotiate complex issues, provide training, and maintain good working relationships with others using tact, courtesy and diplomacy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
