What you'd do

You will serve as a Electronics Technician in the U.S. NAVAL OBSERVATORY of NAVOBSERV. GS-11: $85,447 to $111,087 Per Year GS-12: $102,415 to $133,142.00 Per Year

Major duties

You will assess the need for improvements to Master Clock and time transfer electronics systems, subsystems, components, connections, and their associated electrical power systems; and design, modify, build, assemble, repair, and maintain them. You will physically install electronic circuits and cables, moving equipment and clocks, general maintenance, and similar work. You will assist the different time transfer divisions with respective missions. You will recognize the need for new techniques, particularly of electronic nature, and develop them using nonstandard theory, taking into account the complex dependencies between the Master Clock and other time transfer systems and subsystems.

What you need to qualify

To qualify for a GS-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying skills with electrical test equipment, electrical system installation, electrical system maintenance and troubleshooting electronics systems. Experience communicating scientific and technical material in both verbal and written formats to a wide range of audiences from technical experts and peers to government or international experts. Willingness to learn and adapt to work in a complex technical environment. Experience performing credit card purchases and maintaining purchasing documents. To qualify for a GS-11, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: The ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronics systems. Experience communicating scientific and technical material in both verbal and written formats to a wide range of audiences from technical experts and peers to government or international experts. Willingness to learn and adapt to work in a complex technical environment. Experience performing credit card purchases and maintaining purchasing documents.
