SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER (PROGRAM MANAGER)
What you'd do
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER (PROGRAM MANAGER) in the ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT, COMBAT SUBMERSIBLES DIVISION, MULTI-MISSION DRY SUBMERSIBLES BRANCH of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Major duties
You will plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Multi-Mission Dry Submersible (MMDS) Branch, ensuring that the work of the Deep Submergence employees complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. You will Identify requirements and initiate requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies, and spaces to ensure success in meeting goals and objectives. You will be responsible for all work assigned to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard pertaining to the Multi-Mission Dry Submersible (MMDS) program. You will conduct technical reviews and evaluations of design proposals submitted by others (this includes work performed within the code, outside the code and by contractors/academia).
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience applying advanced engineering principles to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of complex systems and equipment. * Experience working with the concepts, principles, and practices of Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Naval Architecture Engineering to oversee the design, development, and maintenance of Deep Submergence Systems. * Experience utilizing problem-solving methods to resolve complex technical issues related to the assigned programs. * Experience implementing project management principles and techniques to plan, organize, and manage engineering projects within budget and schedule constraints. * Experience developing and implementing engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
