What you'd do

This position is located at Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, Office of Audit or Office of Inspections and Evaluations. As a Performance Auditor, you will serve as an Auditor in support of the assigned program area(s).

Major duties

As a Performance Auditor, you will: - Conduct complex managerial and financial audits and special assignments to assess program efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with program laws, regulations and other provisions. - Conduct valid and reliable research to analyze internal and external information to assess risk factors and identify high-risk areas. - Document in audit work papers the results of audit review, using correct formats, including source, purpose, conclusion, and results. - Identify and use complex specialized audit techniques to achieve audit objectives and identify appropriate statistical sampling methods, quantitative methods, and computer technology. - Conduct effective meetings and conferences with auditees at all levels, including executive management.

What you need to qualify

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Planning, conducting, and documenting results of audits or projects within a tax organization; AND - Communicating issues, justifying conclusions reached, and recommending courses of actions in a performance audit environment; AND - Performing formal and informal briefings and presentations of a technical nature (such as: explaining if a project complied with standards and why) to management defending a position or to gain support from the audience. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
