Major duties
Preforms the full range of first line supervisory duties. Plans work to be accomplished, sets priorities and schedules work to be completed within the Branch. Assigns work to subordinate employees based on organization priorities. Accept, amend, or reject work presented by subordinates. Insure that staff is effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs, structuring assignments to create effective and economic recommendations. Balance workload and provides advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of technical and process related issues. Coordinates, plans and schedules with other organization managers and customers as appropriate. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities to include counseling employees, recommending and selecting candidates for vacancies, promotions, reassignments and details, inconsideration of skills, qualifications, mission requirements. Develops, modifies and/or interprets performance standards. Appraises performance, recommend awards, hears and resolves employee complaints and refers serious unresolved complaints to higher-level management. Approves leave.
What you need to qualify
Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. Customer Service - developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs. Oral Communication - briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience. Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions. AND Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or higher grade in Federal Service. For the GS-14, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-13 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: experience demonstrating an understanding of IT principles, concepts, methods, standards and practices to develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies; directing the planning and delivery of information technology services; ability to assess and apply business analysis, systems design processes; integrating aspects such as business case analysis, system analysis, and software development. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
