What you'd do

In this position you will perform clerical and administrative support functions for the entire Science & Technology Program. These duties require familiarity with the budgetary requirements of appropriated, user fee and trust funded activities.

Major duties

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to: Ensure data are accurately collected and appropriately managed through a variety of systems. Assist with routine customer inquiries such as questions about service invoices, clarification of payment options, and resolving billing discrepancies. Maintain accurate records for procurement and billing to ensure audit readiness and alignment with agency requirements. Serve as a government purchase card holder for the office, coordinating procurement activities to obtain services and supplies while ensuring compliance with policies. Perform routine administrative tasks such as serving as a timekeeper and receiving and directing site visitors in compliance with building access protocols.

What you need to qualify

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. FOR THE GS-05 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Experience using a personal computer for word processing, databases, spreadsheets and other functions. Maintain office files and/or retrieve and assemble information/documents for the files. OR Four years education above the High School level in any field of study.. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level. FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Performing routine procurement and accounts payable tasks by processing documents and maintaining orderly records. Supporting administrative operations by gathering information, organizing files, and preparing materials for use by program staff. Following established procedures to complete clerical and administrative tasks that contribute to daily office workflows. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. FOR THE GS-07 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Using various forms of qualitative and quantitative methodology for reporting accounts payable and procurement data. Managing clerical and administrative support projects. Developing and issuing financial or procurement reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant procurement system data. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. TRANSCRIPTS are required if: You are qualifying for the position based on education. You are qualifying for this position based on a combination of experience and education. This education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college, or university. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-05 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants may have combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience to meet total qualification requirements. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
