What you'd do

This position serves as a Program Support Assistant to the GLA Dental Service at the Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Clinic, reporting the Lead Dentist, and Residency Program Director(s), at the respective Dental Clinic sites. The GLA Dental Service is under the umbrella of the Office of the Chief of Staff. The incumbent provides confidential administrative support, program support and provides the necessary and vital oversight of administrative and operations of the respective Dental Clinic.

Major duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Serve as point of contact for the Outpatient Dental Clinic facility. Timekeeper: Prepare, maintain, serve as timekeeper for multiple dental sites; submit Time & Attendance reports. Manages the ordering of the Dental Laboratory Prosthesis via IFCAP System via credit card or 2237. Review, revise, analyze and evaluate records management, reports control and administrative operating procedures. Serve as training coordinator and PIV sponsor for the staff to include the reset of passwords; unlock employee accounts, reactive/de-active employee accounts; update training accounts; and run training reports for management. Process incoming/outgoing correspondence, reports, memoranda, work orders and other forms of written communication. Initiate and perform a variety of administrative support duties associated with patient care, student rotations, and treatment in a Dental Clinic. Collect, compile, analyze and/or track data and statistical information for data access. Manage and/or improve patient care, outpatient care and research projects. Obtain quotes for dental instruments, dental service equipment, office supplies, quality control, patient or public relations. What you need to qualify

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/14/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Providing program/administrative support; reviewing material for grammar, neatness, technical accuracy, adherence to established format. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have four years above high school. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education as listed above.
