What you'd do

This Transportation Assistant position is located under the Director's Office at the Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OKCVAHCS). The position works to ensure the Beneficiary Travel, Special Mode Transportation, Fraud Prevention, and Ambulance billing programs are in compliance, and is responsible for overall planning, coordination, implementation, management, and evaluation of clinical applications of patient transportation with particular emphasis on improving care and safety of veterans.

Major duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major duties and responsibilities include: Review for accuracy and process Beneficiary Travel claims for the purpose of reimbursing Veterans for travel to and from VA medical appointments. Review eligibility of each Veteran before finalizing Beneficiary Travel reimbursements. Attend to all details of voucher processing to prevent the processing of fraudulent claims. Research payments for reimbursement when requested by Veterans, Supervisor or the Mobility Manager, coordinating with the Fiscal office when required Prepare data processing report for daily batch review. Prepare and audit Beneficiary Travel voucher daily batch for errors. Transfer Beneficiary Travel voucher daily batch to Fiscal office. Compile and submit daily clerk report summarizing all vouchers processed, phone calls, and customer service interactions. Review eligibility of each Veteran before scheduling Special Mode Transportation, including review of CPRS Bene-Travel consults. Maintain timekeeping accountability and accuracy within the VATAS program. Coordinate daily with all vendors for Special Mode Transportation. Schedule and reserve tickets for eligible patients requiring airline transportation. Assures that all appropriate VA forms are used correctly and regulations followed. Perform other duties as assigned. What you need to qualify

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You may qualify at the GS-6 level if you fulfill the following qualifications: -SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: extracting information and mileage from a road atlas and city street maps; interpreting contracts for transportation services; controlling and maintaining accounting records for travel accounts; preparing correspondence regarding transportation benefits/reimbursement; and analyzing and creating data reports showing volume and costs of transportation. Physical Requirements: No special physical exertion is required. The work is primarily sedentary though some work may require periods of standing. The regular and recurring work of the position involves sitting at a desk, conferences, meetings, ect., and occasional visits to activity work sites. Occasional use of automobile and public conveyances may be required. The work requires no special physical demands but will require some physical effort such as standing, walking, bending or sitting.
