What you'd do

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER in the WARFIGHTING SUPPORT CENTER (NP2) DEPARTMENT of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Major duties

You will plan, organize, and supervise an interdisciplinary team of scientists. You will evaluate the potential applications of remotely sensed data, processing, models, and systems for oceanographic support to military applications that characterize the ocean battlespace environment. You will inform the Division Director of anticipated vacancies, increase in workload, or other circumstances requiring replacements or additional staff. You will monitor progress of all projects/programs; investigate delays, identify causes, and initiate or recommend corrective action to assure deadline are met. You will maintain liaison with government and civilian institutions engaged in related expeditionary/SOF programs and with foreign governments and NATO commands as required.

What you need to qualify

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience planning, organizing, and supervising an interdisciplinary team of scientists and contractors. Experience identifying problems as it relates to oceanographic data, finding a solution, and executing a solution. Experience analyzing geo-spatial data utilizing custom algorithms or processes to assess environmental effects. Experience representing the department, coordinating the planning and scheduling of required meetings across different branches/departments. Experience procuring the necessary equipment and human capital required to perform operations and duties within the department.
