About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Logistics Readiness Center, in Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Major duties

Ensures the safe receipt, storage, and movement of hazardous materials. Operates various forklift trucks to lift loads weighing up to 10,000 lbs. as high as 168 inches. Performs temporary warehousing space planning. Maintains customer accounts records utilizing automated systems to fill orders. Checks barcodes of incoming items for accuracy. Issues items from stock, verifies signature match with authorized signature cards. Screens shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies and identifies items damaged in shipment. Participates in inventories by verifying count types and quantities of items.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (FLO/ HAZMAT) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Hazmat). I can perform warehousing operations which include 1) receiving, storing and issuing a wide variety of supplies and equipment; and 2) unloading, inspecting, and tallying stock to assure quantities and types of items agree with shipping documents. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: The incumbent is required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time and to bend, stoop and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Lifting items that weigh up to 75 lbs. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from others. Working Conditions: Work is accomplished inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lighted. The incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls and injury from falling stock. There is routine exposure to dust, dirt, grease, high noise levels in mechanized work areas and may occasionally be subject to exposure to toxins or chemical fumes. Safety shoes and protective goggles are a requirement of the position.
