What you'd do

About the position: This position is Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) and will be assigned to the Community Services Flight, McGuire AFB, NJ.

Major duties

Operates full-service coffee bar. Prepares a wide range of drinks including but not limited to lattes, espresso, Americano and cappuccinos by selecting the proper grind of coffee shot and following set recipes for each variation of drink. Prepares, heats and serves made-to-order food menu items such as but not limited to paninis, baguettes, hot dogs and sandwiches while following all food handling requirements. Must be able to follow basic cappuccino requirement of each type of drink including, but not limited to, preheating the portafilter; knowing the difference in grinds of coffee; how long to brew a shot of coffee for said drink into a cup; preheating the cup; how to "pull" and "tamp" into the portafilter; difference in frothing and steaming milk; and know the difference and relay information to customers on the difference in drink choices. Performs receiving and disbursing cashier duties. Sets up cappuccino bad for operation and obtains cash bank. Prepare documentation for cash funds accountability. Cleans work surface/area and bar equipment and utensils. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area. Stocks service bar and assist supervisor on duty if necessary. Sets up, and maintains, work area in a neat and clean manner. Operates dishwasher; scrapes, soaks, scours dished and utensils. Performs heavy cleaning tasks as required in the work area and on/under/behind equipment including coffee machines and refrigerators. Performs other related duties as assigned. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must be able to follow simple oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operate simple machines. Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps; must use judgment in sequencing tasks. Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food and beverages, for cleaning equipment and work area. Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certification and/or complete food handler's training. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty (evenings, weekends and holidays). Must be able to read, speak and understand English. Must demonstrate good customer service skills.
