About the Position: This position is the Defense Health Agency. It is located in the Pathology Department located at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC) at Fort Gordon, Georgia. The Primary purpose of the position is to Perform complex diagnostic testing in a clinical laboratory environment. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major duties

Perform a variety of established procedures and tests within the core laboratory section. Review results of routine work for technical accuracy or obvious errors. Correlate laboratory data with quality control, clinical or other laboratory data to validate test results and procedures. Train new employees, students, reservists and others to perform technical and procedural aspects within their realm of responsibility. Operate the clinical analyzers and other equipment of the section according to manufacturer's recommendations and existing departmental Standard Operating Procudures (SOPs).

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clinical laboratory testing, such as routine hematology or specimen testing; And calibrating and/or preparing equipment for clinical laboratory tests.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Microbiology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. AND Certificate: This position has a selective placement factor which must be met prior to employment and for continued employment. Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT) or other board or registry deemed comparable by Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (OASD(HA)) or their designee as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is required.
