What you'd do

You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF. SALARY GS-10: $77,643 - $100,931 GS-11: $85,307 - $110,905

Major duties

You will recommend changes to work plans, and trades procedures to improve radiological controls, correct deficiencies, increase efficiency, minimize exposure to radiation, and prevent incidents. You will determine and execute appropriate actions to contain and control radiation, effects, all personnel movement, assigns emergency duties to other Federal personnel, and determines if and when other operations may proceed. You will assess or investigate unusual radiological control situations . You will analyze problems, deficiencies, and causes of incidents that could not be fully resolved by lower grade technicians. You will appraise work procedures and recommend efficient and safe methods for radiation/contamination related evolutions. You will prevent and control incidents and accidents during complicated operations.

What you need to qualify

FOR GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-10) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: monitoring and analyzing shipyard nuclear reactor plant maintenance or refueling operations to assess radiological control methods and procedures for deficiencies or non-compliance to radiological safety requirements and exposure control to recommend and implement corrective action. FOR GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: monitoring shipyard nuclear reactor plant maintenance or refueling operations for deficiencies or non-compliance with radiological safety requirements and exposure control to implement corrective action.
