SUPERVISORY TRAINING SPECIALIST

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the 705 TRS.
Major duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the 705 TRS Advanced Academic, Current Operations, or Weapon and Tactics flights, ensuring that course development, support, and management complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Evaluates instructional programs, participates in special projects, and maintains professional and technical expertise. Represents the 705 TRS with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Serves as an AOC, C2, C2FE, Cyber Operations, or AFFOR subject matter expert (SME). Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
What you need to qualify
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instruction Series 1712. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Assessing and revising policies and procedures as needed to find ways to improve quality, timeliness, and efficiency of work. Establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of course development, support, and management of assigned and emerging training courses. Identifies employee developmental needs and provides or arranges for training (formal and on-the-job) to maintain and improve job performance. Discharges security responsibilities by ensuring education and compliance with security directives for employees with access to classified or sensitive material. Researches and determines or recommends appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact organization, installation, command, or agency. Identifies the need for special projects and initiates milestones and goals. Evaluates reports by analyzing facts and performing appropriate research and prepares detailed responses. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the application of military operations as it applies to assigned programs, operations, weapon systems, logistics support and personnel readiness in support of major military operations such as war, mobilization, deployment, exercise, Special Operations, command and control, or similar operations. Knowledge of Air Force and command program goals and objectives; the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones; methods of evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions related to actual events; and the relationship of the various command entities involved in overall program planning and execution of military operations and evaluation of the same. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of C2, Air & Space Operations Center, and Air Force Forces missions and relationships to determine coordination and liaison requirements and training audience strengths and weaknesses for program planning and execution. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to negotiate effectively with senior analysts and management to accept and implement recommendations, where proposals involve substantial resources, and require extensive changes in established concepts and procedures. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
