What you'd do

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Superintendent, Senate Office Buildings. The incumbent serves as a Materials Handler performing tasks in the receipt, storage and delivery of furniture and furnishings. The duties may occasionally include driving a 24-foot-long box truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) under 26,000 pounds. A CDL is not required.

Major duties

The tour of duty for this position is: Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM Work schedule may require some occasional mandatory overtime on holidays AND weekends. Responsibilities: Unloads and uncrates furniture and furnishings such as carpet, chair mats, chairs, desks, file cabinets, glass for desk and table tops and tables. Delivers items to storage areas and customer offices using dollies, forklift trucks, hand trucks, pallet jacks and other materials handling equipment, as appropriate to the item size. Determines condition of furniture, assembles it if required and performs any necessary repairs and cleaning prior to delivery. Documents damages, overages or shortages and informs the Property Manager. Operates a forklift truck with a load capacity of less than 10,000 pounds and a height capacity of 168 inches to transport materials. Responsible for utilizing a thorough knowledge of and compliance with all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and to initiate or take corrective action on unsafe conditions in managed areas. Performs other duties as assigned.
