About the Position: Serves as a Public Affairs specialist for Headquarters Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command developing annual, specific public affairs plans and activities to ensure achievement of organizational goals.

Major duties

Compose written, oral and/or visual information for use by senior leaders to inform the public, stakeholders and/or lawmakers. Develop PA plans and messages for audiences, publics, and stakeholders. Produce written material that effectively conveys information about the organization’s projects or activities. Coordinate release of information to media, individual or group inquiries. Conduct briefings for internal or external audiences to communicate the organization’s projects or programs. Respond to queries from various audiences such as members of state and federal government, interest groups, organizations and/or members of the general public.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Producing oral presentations to internal and/or external groups informing them of program objectives and/or activities., 2) Analyzing data to provide recommendations on program changes, 3) Writing a variety of articles, news releases and/or speeches to convey information, and 4) Applying communication principles, and/or analytical methods to develop strategic communication plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
