The Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer (OCHCO) serves as the primary authority for human capital management at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). OCHCO leads department-wide human capital strategy and operations to support a mission-ready workforce through the delivery of integrated services across the full employee lifecycle. This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer (OCHCO), Office of Human Capital Services (HCS). HCS provides essential workforce support and operational HR solutions through the following Department-wide functions: Strategic and Operational Classification, Recruitment, and Staffing services; Payroll, Benefits, and Retirement services; Career/Life balance programs such as Employee Health & Wellness and Reasonable Accommodations; and Personnel Security Services. Pathways Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government. The following are the duties of this position at the GS-8. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As a Human Resources Assistant (Staffing Operations/Liaison), you will: Manage complex or high-volume staffing actions involving multiple organizations or hiring authorities. Perform detailed quality reviews of SSP staffing products for compliance with agency requirements. Resolve routine coordination issues independently and recommends corrective actions. Assist senior specialists and supervisors in monitoring SSP performance trends and metrics. Serve as a technical resource for lower-graded HR assistants.
What you need to qualify
Key Requirements: Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. Subject to a one year trial period. Continued employment is contingent upon supervisory certification that continued employment will benefit the Federal Service; the certification will occur no less than 30 days before the end of the probationary/trial period. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience for the GS-08, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Providing customer service and reviewing personnel documents for accuracy and compliance. Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience for the GS-07, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Responding to routine customer questions and reviewing personnel documents for completeness and basic compliance with established procedures. Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience for the GS-06, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Providing basic customer service related to hiring actions and processing personnel documents. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
