What you'd do
You will serve as a RIGGER in the Department of Energy Material Office, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support, Major Components Division, of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.
Major duties
You will plan, lay out, organize, assemble and install complex weight handling equipment configurations to load and offload reactor plant components and equipment. You will be responsible for the inspection and maintenance of all weight handling gear used by the Major Components Division. You will complete required inspection documentation and maintain a database of all lifting and handling gear inspection results to ensure it is properly certified and adequate for the lifting operation. You will perform the duties of a crane operator on recurring intervals operating 10-200 ton bridge cranes and 3-25 ton forklifts in support of the Major Components Division's weight handling operations.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including: The ability to plan, lay out, organize, assemble and install complex weight handling equipment configurations to load and offload heavy components and equipment. The ability to determine the proper weight handling equipment and rigging gear required for the load. The ability to determine the correct tie-down configurations to secure loads to trucks and railcars. As the Rigger-in-Charge, must conduct a pre-brief prior to each lifting operation, assign duties and coordinate the actions of each member of the lifting crew, and recognize and take corrective action for any problems encountered during lifting operations. The ability to inspect and maintain weight handling gear, including nylon slings, cable wire slings, shackles, eyebolts, spreader bars, and swivel hoist rings in accordance with NAVFAC P-307's Management of Weight Handling Equipment and to properly document inspection results. The ability to oversee the duties of a crane operator on operating a 200-ton bridge crane and 25-ton overhead bridge cranes. Willing to train and qualify as a brakeman, switch operator, engineer and conductor for railroad operations to move railcars on base and under the overhead crane for lifting operations. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including: The ability to plan, lay out, organize, assemble and install complex weight handling equipment configurations to load and offload heavy components and equipment. The ability to determine the proper weight handling equipment and rigging gear required for the load. The ability to determine the correct tie-down configurations to secure loads to trucks and railcars. The ability to inspect and maintain weight handling gear, including nylon slings, cable wire slings, shackles, eyebolts, spreader bars, and swivel hoist rings in accordance with NAVFAC P-307's Management of Weight Handling Equipment and to properly document inspection results. The ability to oversee the duties of a crane operator on operating a 200-ton bridge crane and 25-ton overhead bridge cranes. Willing to train and qualify as a brakeman, switch operator, engineer and conductor for railroad operations to move railcars on base and under the overhead crane for lifting operations. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. I have the ability to perform common tasks including: The ability to plan, lay out, organize, assemble and install weight handling equipment configurations to load and offload heavy components and equipment. The ability to determine the proper weight handling equipment and rigging gear required for the load. The ability to determine the correct tie-down configurations to secure loads to trucks and railcars. The ability to inspect and maintain weight handling gear, including nylon slings, cable wire slings, shackles, eyebolts, spreader bars, and swivel hoist rings. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
