Major duties

You will assists the Forest Management Forester with all aspects of timer sales administration for approximately five lump sum timber sales and one pay-as-cut timber sale per year. You will collect, compile, and calculate, timber volumes prior to lump sum timber sales. You will maintain records, both electronic and physical, of timber sales progress and outstanding and satisfied payments for pay-as-cut sales and additional timber volumes for lump sum sales. You will assist Forest Management Forester and other forestry technicians in the collection of field data for approximately ten forest compartments annually You will locate and recommend areas for reforestation and timber stand improvement.

What you need to qualify

GS-07 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Interpreting aerial photos and maps; maintaining records of sales timber sales progress and outstanding and satisfied payments for pay-as-cut sales; monitoring all aspects of timber harvesting operations. GS-06 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Compiling necessary data to propose forest management decisions; coordinating proposals with other land management and land-use organizations; planning or carrying out varied types of timber cruises or surveys Seasonal experience may also be creditable. A season of experience is considered to be a period of no less than 3 months of continuous employment on a seasonal basis.
