ACCOUNTANT
What you'd do
You will serve as an ACCOUNTANT in the Comptroller Directorate, Material Accountability Department of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.
Major duties
You will serve as an expert on the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP) accounting system and provide technical guidance on the financial, procurement, and inventory systems used by the department. You will perform studies and analysis related to financial requirements, contracting procedures, and inventory management practices. You will apply accounting principles, theories, concepts and practices in new ways to solve problems where no clear precedent exists. You will coordinate with Accountants and Financial Management Analysts in the Material Accountability Department to discuss problems and resolutions for system issues.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Advising or administering, supervising, or performing professional accounting work that requires application of accounting theories, concepts, principles, and standards to the financial activities of governmental, quasigovernmental, or private sector organizations. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Devising solutions to accounting problems by developing and/or modifying accounting methods and techniques; 2) Applying standard accounting principles, theories, techniques and procedures to cases where little or no precedent information exists; 3) Advising and assisting on matters of complex accounting issues by gathering, assembling, consolidating, and analyzing facts; and 4) Performing oral and written communication pertaining to highly complex financial, procurement, or inventory issues.
