SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER
What you'd do
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER in the ACOUSTICS DEPARTMENT (NP5) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Major duties
You will plan, organize, supervise, and direct the work activities of employees. You will monitor progress of all projects, investigate delays, identify causes, and initiate or recommend corrective action to ensure deadlines are met. You will evaluate performance of subordinate employees. You will inform leadership of anticipated vacancies, increases in workload, or other circumstances that require replacement of additional staff. You will prepare the branch budget and ensure the most cost-effective expenditure of that budget. You will serve as the acting division or department director when required.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience collecting and processing acoustic data as it pertains to an ocean environment. - Experience assessing and reviewing performance objectives and providing feedback to personnel. - Experience directing or planning the work of others to ensure goals or objectives are met. - Experience reviewing scientific work performed by junior scientists for technical accuracy. - Experience analyzing resources limitations to stay within budget allocations. - Experience presenting scientific findings, problems, and solutions to leadership.
