What you'd do

You will serve as the ACCOUNTING MANAGER in the Accounting Division, Comptroller Department of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Major duties

You will prepare directives to assure compliance with financial management and accounting policies promulgated by higher authority. You will develop new or specialized procedures to solve problems where no clear precedents exist. You will provide interpretations of accounting reports, statements, and data which point out trends, identifies deviations from standards and/or plans, and projects data into the future. You will provide technical guidance and assistance to operating personnel throughout the Command, other ship maintenance activities, customers, and higher-level authority in interpreting and utilizing financial accounting data. You will establish and maintain effective relationships with and gain the cooperation of supervisors, management officials, Department Heads and other high level officials and/or representatives of other Federal activities. You will plan work to be accomplished; assign priorities; evaluate performance; interview candidates for key positions and make hiring decisions and selections. What you need to qualify

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: one year as a professional accountant analyzing policies and practices of accounting or financial management systems to interpret, modify, and implement financial improvement and audit readiness of business operations.
