Major duties

The position serves as a Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) Program Manager and specialist for all BARD patron-facing products in the Patron Engagement Section (PES), Patron and Network Engagement Division, National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS), Library Collections and Services Group. As the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) Program Manager and specialist, you will: Serve as the subject matter expert in the development, implementation, and distribution of all versions of the product. Review and analyze all BARD patron-facing products to ensure continuity in operation, consistency in delivery, high-level of accessibility, and that all patron considerations have been met. Coordinate all patron-facing customer service and technical support for all BARD products. This includes BARD on the web, BARD Mobile for iOS, BARD Mobile for Android, BARD Mobile for Fire Devices, BARD Express, Digital Advanced (DA2) Talking Book machine, and the My Talking Book Skill. Serve as the primary liaison between the various BARD initiatives, NLS patrons, and other NLS stakeholders. Perform other duties as assigned. The position description number for this position is 467973. The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area. The incumbent of this position will work a Flexitime work schedule. This is a non-supervisory, non-bargaining unit position. Relocation expenses will not be authorized for the person(s) selected under this vacancy announcement.

Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision. Ability to interact collaboratively, providing consultation and liaison services.** Ability to provide customer service planning and management work for a program. ** Ability to communicate in writing. Ability to utilize applicable information technology. Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
