SUPERVISORY MECHANICAL ENGINEER
What you'd do
You will serve as a Supervisory Mechanical Engineer in the Capital Improvements Business Line of a Public Works Department.
Major duties
You will work to eliminate or reduce barriers to production, promote team building and seek improvements to business practices. You will recommend formal training necessary, provides mentoring, and develops an Individual Development Plan. You will work a broad spectrum of planning, design, and construction projects. You will develop HVAC and plumbing design drawings and specifications. You will evaluate mechanical systems drawings to advise engineers or contractors of design results and their significance to projects.
What you need to qualify
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Your license or registration must be held in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing assistance in the training, direction, and professional development of Mechanical Engineering personnel; 2) Providing technical oversight of the mechanical engineering aspects shore facilities design and construction (i.e. HVAC, plumbing, utilities, industrial systems and processes); 3) Designing and developing layouts, construction drawings and specifications for facility mechanical systems such as heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, utilities, fuel handling, and industrial ventilation; 4) Communicating orally and in writing with internal and external customers/sponsor commands regarding mechanical engineering; and 5) Managing or assisting in the management of facility engineering and design projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
