What you'd do

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Davis Monthan Outdoor Recreation Facility. This is a flexible position meaning it guarantee's 0 hours but could work up to 40 hours and it does not include benefits.

Major duties

1. Performs a variety of maintenance, custodial and repairs jobs to include, but not limited to, simple carpentry, plumbing, painting, custodial duties, maintenance, repair, and minor construction for the DM ODR. Plumbing responsibilities i.e., unclog drains, toilets, sinks, replace rusted above ground pipes and fixtures. Informs supervisor of major problems. Paints indoor and outdoor surfaces i.e., walls, floors, doors and etc. 2. Performs custodial duties to ensure cleanliness of all restrooms, office, laundry; sweep, mop, wax floor. Scrub and disinfect toilets, sinks, showers. Clean and sanitize washers and dryers. Washes windows inside and out, stocks restrooms, ensures storage areas are stocked, clean and organized. 3. Accomplishes landscaping/groundskeeping tasks to ensure trees, shrubs and plants are watered, pruned and trimmed throughout each season. Debris, leaves, fallen limbs and trash containers, ash trays are picked up/emptied throughout the camp grounds on a daily basis. Digs small trenches, grades and levels sites using dirt, gravel and stones. Digs and fills holes and plants small trees, shrubs and plants throughout the seasons. Uses manual and gas/electrical tools, i.e., tiller, chainsaw, hedges, clippers, axe, blower, etc. Ensures grass and weeds are cut down and/or sprayed and grounds remain attractive throughout the seasons. 4. Investigates any reported maintenance problems to ascertain cause and takes corrective action when possible. Refers problems not within capability to immediate supervisor for further action. Works independently, plans work day accordingly with little or no supervision. 5. Performs other related duties as assigned. The incumbent may be called in to perform minor maintenance when urgent problems arise. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have manual skill and knowledge to operate simple power equipment, such as powered push lawnmowers, leaf blowers, weed trimmers, tractors and low-pressure sprayer. Knowledge of basic hand tools such as handsaws, hatchets, clippers. Ability to read and follow simple signs and specific written and/or oral instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps. Also, must have experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical etc. Physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and be able to occasionally lift and carry object weighing up to 50 pounds. Able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions. This a drug testing position and a Tier 1 background investigation.
