What you'd do

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Federal Coordinated Health Care Office (FCHCO). As an IT Specialist (Systems Analysis), GS-2210-14, you will serve as an information technology expert and authority on CMS data for the Group.

Major duties

Serve as the technical authority for the analysis of CMS data for topics related to dually eligible individuals. Serve as the principal advisor to Group-level management, providing high-level technical and conceptual expertise, particularly for data collection, reporting, and analytic systems. Design and conduct analyses, develop system proposals, and coordinate the efforts necessary to translate center and/or group priorities into advanced IT systems. Work within the group and across components to identify opportunities to improve CMS data collection, interpretation, or analysis to achieve efficiency for the agency, states, other federal partners, or individuals. Contribute to the formation of contracting strategies, development of procurement packages, and development of Statements of Work (SOW) for major contractual agreements in the area of IT system design, development, implementation, and support.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Analyzing Medicare or Medicaid data that is translated into policy decisions. 2) Reviewing proposed, modified, or new legislation or regulations on Medicare or Medicaid enrollment to assess the impact. 3) Providing technical expertise on Medicare or Medicaid enrollment programs to senior leadership; and 4) Communicating technical information into written reports or presentations tailored for diverse audiences. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current or former Federal employees and current or former Federal employees applying under the VEOA eligibility who hold or have held a permanent General Schedule position in the previous year must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
