What you'd do
The Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Office of Performance Analysis & Integrity (PA&I), is seeking a highly qualified executive leader to serve as an Assistant Director for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). The incumbent provides strategic leadership and oversight of VBA's enterprise data analytics, reporting, and information management capabilities supporting executive decision-making, performance management, operational oversight, fraud detection, and Congressional reporting.
Major duties
Specific duties include: Collaborates with senior executives, program offices, OIT partners, contractors, and external stakeholders to resolve complex data issues Oversees mission-critical data products and reporting capabilities used for executive decision-making, workload management, performance analysis, fraud detection, Congressional inquiries, FOIA responses, nationwide operational oversight and contractor performance. Leads multidisciplinary teams responsible for data analysis, database operations, data integration, reporting, modernization, and program management activities. Develops strategic plans, policies, governance frameworks, performance measures, and operational improvements supporting enterprise data and analytics capabilities. Provides oversight of enterprise data environment, reporting platforms, database administration activities, ETL processes, data quality controls, and modernization initiatives. Leads efforts to modernize business processes, improve reporting capabilities, strengthen data governance, and enhance the reliability, security, and usability of enterprise data products. Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30pm. Compressed/Flexible: Not Available Telework: This position is eligible for situational (ad hoc) telework only. The selectee is required to report to the official duty station each scheduled workday. Telework may be approved only on a case-by-case basis with supervisory approval. What you need to qualify
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement:07/13/2026. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-15 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-14 level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: You may qualify based on your experience as described below: GS-15 Grade Level: Specialized Experience: 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level Leading and overseeing enterprise data warehouse operations within a large-scale organization, including support for the Veterans Benefits Administration's enterprise data warehouse environment. To includes database administration, database integration, analytics, information management, and operational support for large-scale data systems, leading work involving Extract, Transform, and Load processes, including Informatica ETL systems, and supporting enterprise reporting and data management activities. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Full vs. Part-Time Employment: Full-time employment is considered to be at least 35 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited on a pro-rated basis; when including part-time employment in your resume you must specify the average hours worked per week. Physical Requirements: Position is sedentary.
